IT WAS NOT TO BE

It was not to be. Not long ago (the 1960s to be more precise), it was assumed by some very ‘heroic’ secularization theorists that modernity had in essence managed to relegate religion to the private sphere of life. And those theorists were not alone. Their sentiments towards religion would have resonated very well with post industrial revolution enlightenment thinkers of the 18th and 19th century. After all, had not one Emile Durkheim (1798-1857) said that the social representations of any given society such as those emanating from religious beliefs, will gradually disappear as science slowly advances?

But it was not to be, to the dismay of some secularization theorists. ‘’The world’, in the words of Peter Berger, one of the chief proponents of the secularization theory, continues to be ‘profusely’ religious. There is no doubt that shifts in thinking about the salience of religion in society is being felt far and wide. In development policy framing for example, the ‘turn to religion’ is a growing trend as development policy framers seek to incorporate religious actors to enhance development initiatives all over the world.

I am a Christian Preacher, and so in effect, believe in the TRUTH as recorded in the Bible. I am informed by the bible that ‘all truth is in Jesus’ (Ephesians 4:21). To the consternation of some, the Church of Jesus Christ continues to grow. When the Lord Jesus Christ told Peter that ‘I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it’ (Mathew 16:18), he meant what he said. My faith in God rests on the sure foundation that the one who spoke the aforementioned words is alive. Every other religious figure is dead. Jesus is resurrected (a historical fact). He is alive. Simple faith. Having faith in him, and him alone – that is what saves a person. Amen!

I am inviting you to pray the following simple, yet powerful prayer. If you say it from deep down your heart, you will be saved. God will send His Holy Spirit into you, and He will guide your life henceforth.

Say:

Dear GOD, I come to you through Jesus Christ, your Son. He was crucified on the cross on my behalf. Forgive my sins and send your Holy Spirit to me.

The next step is to find a bible preaching church and get baptised. This can be done immediately if arrangements are in place or shortly afterwards.
